The Bremerton Police Department accepts applications for the listed categories for the position of Police Officer on a continuous basis.

  1. Police Officer - Entry Level
  2. Police Officer - Certified
  3. Police Officer - Lateral

Police Officer - Entry Level - Minimum Requirements

  • Must possess a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Must meet required physical and medical standards and all civil service requirements.
  • A valid Washington State drive's license is required. No major traffic convictions in the past 3 years. No more than 2 at-fault accidents or minor convictions (or any combination of the 2) in the past 3 years.
  • Applicant must be 21 years of age by appointment date.
  • Incumbent must successfully complete the Washington State Law Enforcement Training Commission Academy within 1 year of hire.

NOTE: Within 6 months of hire, employee must live no farther than 30 minutes normal response time of City Hall.

How to Apply

Applicants must apply through Public Safety Testing (PST). PST will administer the Written Exam and Physical Abilities Test (PAT). Contact them directly at 866-HIRE-911 or visit the Public Safety Website.

Applicants passing the PST examinations will be sent a city application. To be considered for the oral examination applicants must submit a city application and resume. The top qualifying applicants will be invited to participate in the oral examination.
