Health Alert for Kitsap Lake

Cyanobacteria Warning Issued for Kitsap Lake

The Kitsap Public Health District has issued an active cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) warning for Kitsap Lake as of April 6, 2026 . Toxic cyanobacteria can make people sick and can be fatal to pets, fish, waterfowl, and livestock.

Do Not Contact the Water
Until further notice, please avoid all contact with Kitsap Lake water, including:
- Swimming, wading, or water play
- Ingesting lake water (use bottled water if you draw from the lake)
- Allowing pets or livestock near the water
- Eating fish caught during the bloom

Boating & Fishing
- Rinse boats and trailers thoroughly before moving to another lake
- Do not eat fish caught during the algae bloom

Bremerton Parks and Recreation will monitor the situation closely and notify the community when the Health Department confirms it is safe to return to the park for swimming, fishing, or other activities.
