Lieutenant Duke Roessel is a Washington native and U.S. Army veteran with over two decades of dedicated service in law enforcement. He began his public safety career in 1996 with the Washington State Department of Corrections, serving for seven years before joining the Washington State Liquor Control Board in 2003.
In 2005, Lt. Roessel joined the Bremerton Police Department as a Patrol Officer. Over the years, he has taken on a wide range of specialized roles, including Field Training Officer, Bike Officer, Narcotics K9 Handler, SWAT Sniper, Active Shooter Response Instructor, Firearms Instructor, and Training Sergeant. His leadership and commitment to professional development led to his promotion to Corporal in June 2016, and then to Sergeant in October 2018.
Promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in February 2023, he has served as an Operations Patrol Lieutenant and BPD Rangemaster. He currently works in the Office of Professional Standards, where he continues to uphold the department's values of leadership, integrity, and teamwork.
Lt. Roessel has been married to his wife for over thirty-three years and is the proud father of two adult sons. He also enjoys the company of his retired K9 partner, Dusty.
