VIRTUAL MEETING - Race Equity Advisory Committee

Please note that to reduce the spread of COVID-19, the Race Equity Advisory Committee will be conducting a virtual meeting on Tuesday, July 21, 2020 at 3:00 PM. The Council Conference Room will be closed, and all Committee members and supporting staff will be participating in the meeting remotely.

Council Members assigned to serve on the Race Equity Advisory Committee are Leslie Daugs; Lori Wheat; and Michael Goodnow.

Effective July 1, 2020, the Bremerton City Council formed the Race Equity Advisory Committee.  

The purpose of the committee is provide advice and counsel to the City Council on matters identifying programmatic, community, and legislative options; and to seek suggestions on how to ensure that the City of Bremerton is an open and welcoming community for all.

The Race Equity Advisory Committee will have up to 3 Council Members (appointed by the Council President) and 7 Community Members who are residents of the City of Bremerton.  All ages and ethnic backgrounds are welcome to apply.  Terms for the appointments are to be determined.  

Responsibilities may include:
  • Adopting a Mission Statement
  • Setting Goals and/or determining which Issues, Policies & Procedures to review  (i.e. scope)
  • Establishing a timeline for each goal  
  • Hosting community events and outreach  
  • Making recommendations to City Council
Interested City of Bremerton residents are welcome to submit an application to serve on the City of Bremerton’s Race Equity Advisory Committee.
