Mayor Wheeler Announces New Police Chief
Last night, acting Police Chief Tom Wolfe was officially approved by the City Council as the permanent head of the Bremerton Police Department.
In mid-August, Mayor Wheeler selected Interim Chief Wolfe as the next Police Chief for the City of Bremerton, which was subject to approval of the City Council. The City Council voted in favor of the permanent police chief appointment at its Wednesday, September 15 meeting.
“I’m very pleased that he was approved as our Police Chief,” said Mayor Wheeler. “Our police force has a stellar reputation and I am confident Chief Wolfe will maintain stability and continuity in the department. In addition, his experience in Bremerton, extensive knowledge of new Washington state policing laws – which are some of the most sweeping in the country – and his deep-rooted relationships in the community make him an outstanding choice for our City.”
“Because of his in-depth background, the trust he has from the community and his expertise with the new policing laws, Chief Wolfe has been able to lead our police department from Day One as interim and will continue to as our permanent chief,” Mayor Wheeler said.
