Mayor Wheeler to Reopen More Park Facilities on June 1
Mayor Wheeler announced today that more park areas will be opened in Bremerton next week under the Phase 2 opening in Kitsap County. In addition to all walking paths and trails being open in all Bremerton parks, the following will be accessible, effective June 1:
OPEN
- Pendergast Off-Leash Dog Park
- NAD Park Disc Golf Course
- Blueberry Park Community P-Patch and Demonstration Gardens
- Kitsap Lake Park and Boat Launch
- Walking paths and trails in all Bremerton parks (opened on May 5)
PARTIALLY OPEN
- Selected parking lots and bathrooms at certain City parks. All park visitors are asked to plan ahead as restrooms and parking lots may be closed at some sites.
- Open restrooms will be disinfected a minimum of 3 times per day.
CLOSED
- All playgrounds, shelters, and athletic fields are closed to the public.
- Some parking lots and bathrooms in certain City parks remain closed. This is to help reduce crowding and to allow department staff to manage resources needed to keep visitors safe. Individuals will need to plan ahead before they visit.
- All basketball courts and tennis courts are closed for use.
Gatherings in parks are limited to 5 or less outside a household to reduce crowding and allow for physical distancing and other health measures. People are encouraged to bring hand sanitizer, gloves and face coverings to have on hand for safety as needed.
“Moving into Phase 2 means we can slowly reopen some park amenities,” said Mayor Greg Wheeler. “We will continue to take a phased-approach and take into account health guidelines as we move forward in this next phase.”
