Additional Funds Available for Bremerton COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program
Mayor Wheeler announced today that an additional $268,383 is now available for the Bremerton COVID-19 Rental Assistance Program to aid residents who need help in making rental payments.
The new funds came from the CARES Act Federal Stimulus package provided to the City in response to the coronavirus. The Bremerton City Council approved allocating the federal money for the rental assistance program at its meeting on April 15.
The City of Bremerton previously budgeted $100,000 for rental assistance this year and the Bremerton Housing Authority also contributed $100,000 to finance the program.
“This new funding for rental assistance will continue to offer critical support to Bremertonians who are facing economic hardship due to the impacts of COVID-19,” said Mayor Wheeler.
The Bremerton Housing Authority, a partner of the City of Bremerton, administers the Bremerton COVID-19 Rental Assistance program to residents. For details and income eligibility, please visit the agency’s website at www.bremertonhousing.org.
