On June 25, 2019, a woman in her mid-50’s was traveling alone in her vehicle, westbound on Kitsap Way, approaching Highway 3, when she lost control of her vehicle and struck two other vehicles traveling the same direction. After striking those vehicles, she crossed 5 lanes of traffic, including oncoming eastbound lanes, and ran off the roadway in the area of the northbound Highway 3 off-ramp to Kitsap Way.
It is believed the driver suffered a medical emergency while driving which caused her to lose control of the vehicle and crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the other two vehicles involved sustained only minor injuries and were treated and released at the scene.
Kitsap Way was shut down in both directions while the collision scene was processed and cleaned up. Officers are currently in the process of opening up all lanes of travel.
