Lt. Kevin Crane began his law enforcement career with the Bremerton Police Department in 1988. Lt. Crane worked as a patrol officer the first 5 years, most of which was spent working nights. He was then selected to work on the State Drug Task Force, known as WESTNET.  Lt. Crane worked narcotics for 5 years in both the Special Operations Group (SOG) and WESTNET.  

He returned to the patrol division where he was later promoted to the rank of Sergeant. Lt. Crane continued in the patrol division as the shift Sergeant for the night crew for more than a year. In 2003, he was selected to be the unit supervisor for the General Investigations Unit, where he oversaw all major crime investigations, participated in community groups such as SAIVS and the Kitsap Special Assault Unit, member of the Child Death Review Committee, and worked with several local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. He served as the Detective Sergeant for 12 years, before returning to the patrol division. 

Lt. Crane remained in patrol for 3 years before being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in October 2018. He was assigned to the Support Services Division where he is responsible for the Property and Evidence Unit, the Community Resource Unit, the Warrants Division, the Special Operations Group, and the General Investigations Unit. Lt. Crane is also the hiring manager for the police department along with managing audits of the different units within the police department.
