City Extends Suspension of Timed, On-Street Parking in Downtown and 5-Day Parking Rule in Neighborhoods to May 4

Bremerton, WA (April 6, 2020) – To encourage social distancing and to protect the public, the City has temporarily extended the emergency changes to parking rules in support of essential workers, those who need critical services and care, and residents complying with stay at home orders and health directives. These continue to include:

  • Lifting of restrictions on timed, on-street parking in the downtown core (boundary from Warren Avenue east to the waterfront, and 6th Street south to the shipyard fence).
  • Suspension of enforcement of the 5-day parking rule for residential permits in neighborhoods.

Effective immediately, the extension of suspended parking enforcement will take place through May 4, 2020.

Opening up parking restrictions downtown has assisted essential workers who are critical to maintaining operations and services and are not able to take transit or share rides due to social distancing measures. During this time, residents who have needed to go to medical appointments, among other critical services, have been able to use open on-street parking downtown. Additionally, restrictions have been eased for those in neighborhoods who are staying at home due to current health directives.

The City will continue to enforce:

  • Other "No Parking" and on-street parking violations
  • Emergency access and public safety violations, including, but not limited to: parking in alleyways, red zones, blocking fire hydrants, parking in fire lanes, and “No parking” zones with posted signs.

City-owned parking garages and lots will continue to operate as normal. Additional actions may be considered as the situation evolves.
