About BKAT
BKAT’s Mission is to benefit greater Kitsap by:
- providing a means for expression through cable TV and video;
- encouraging civic awareness with coverage of government meetings;
- and inspiring our community with positive, hyper-local stories.
Truly Local Programming
Did you know that Bremerton-Kitsap Access Television (BKAT) has been around since 1987 and we’re the only local cable channel to serve all of Kitsap County? We’re Kitsap’s public access channel.
We showcase non-commercial content from community producers and non-profit organizations, schools, and government agencies. BKAT is a resource for getting important information out to the community. Public access television means that everyone in Kitsap County has access to making and airing a program that you’ve made.
We air live events from Bremerton high school and lectures from Olympic College. We record, broadcast and replay local meetings so you can watch them in a variety of ways when it’s convenient to you, such as Bremerton, Poulsbo & Bainbridge Island City Councils, Kitsap County Commissioners, and many more.
Besides airing videos made by community producers independently or in partnership with BKAT staff in our studio, our small and dynamic team also produces our own shows with an eye towards Kitsap stories that you won’t find on commercial television.
At BKAT, we’re invested in our community by helping you feel connected, informed, and inspired through cable TV and by giving you a platform to express yourself.
BKAT is available to 50,000 cable subscribing households via Comcast 12 and Astound/Wave Channel 3. Live stream our programming here on our website or watch anytime 24/7 on demand at our YouTube channel.
For a nominal annual fee, members can use our BKAT studio, or borrow camera equipment to create shows for cable television.
We have an awesome and dedicated base of members who support BKAT and are excited to connect our community through video. Non-profit organizations share and promote their valuable local work and individuals share their passions and hobbies. We’re grateful for our members in helping to create positive, hyper-local video content for the BKAT Channel with our creative and professional BKAT staff.
BKAT also provides video production related training, equipment and volunteer opportunities as part of our commitment to meet the needs and interests of the communities we serve.
