The Bremerton Police Department accepts applications for the listed categories for the position of Police Officer on a continuous basis.
Police Officer - Entry Level - Minimum Requirements
- Must possess a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Must meet required physical and medical standards and all civil service requirements.
- A valid Washington State driver's license is required. No major traffic convictions in the past 3 years. No more than 2 at-fault accidents or minor convictions (or any combination of the 2) in the past 3 years.
- Applicant must be 21 years of age by appointment date.
- Incumbent must successfully complete the Washington State Law Enforcement Training Commission Academy within 1 year of hire.

Applicants must apply through Public Safety Testing (PST). PST will administer the Written Exam and Physical Abilities Test (PAT). Contact them directly at 866-HIRE-911 or visit the Public Safety Website.
To be considered for the oral examination applicants must submit a city application and resume. The top qualifying applicants will be invited to participate in the oral examination.
Police Officer - Certified - Minimum Requirements
- Must possess a high school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
- Must possess a current Washington Law Enforcement Training Certification.
- Must meet required physical and medical standards and all civil service requirements.
- A valid Washington State driver's license is required. No major traffic convictions in the past 3 years. No more than 2 at-fault accidents or minor convictions (or any combination of the 2) in the past 3 years.
- Applicant must be 21 years of age by appointment date.

Police Officer - Lateral - Minimum Requirements
- Must have 2 years paid law enforcement experience (non-military).
- Must possess a current Washington Law Enforcement Training Certification or equivalent certification recognized by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
- Must meet required physical and medical standards and all civil service requirements.
- A valid Washington State driver's license is required prior to appointment. No major traffic convictions in the past 3 years. No more than 2 at-fault accidents or minor convictions (or any combination of the 2) in the past 3 years.
- Applicant must be 21 years of age by appointment date.
