About Crime Stoppers
Crime Stoppers joins the media, community, and law enforcement in an alliance against serious felony crime. Through all forms of media, Crime Stoppers publicizes unsolved crimes. Offering cash rewards as an inducement, and anonymity as protections, Crime Stoppers encourages concerned citizens to volunteer vital information that leads to the arrest and filing of charges against the suspects.

All tips are taken by highly trained individuals who analyze and distribute incoming tips to the respective law enforcement agency.

Callers are identified only by code numbers issued to them at the time of their initial call. No names are asked for. When a caller's information leads to an arrest, the caller re contacts Crime Stoppers to claim their reward and to arrange for anonymous cash payment.

A board of directors, made up of citizens from throughout the county, governs Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound. They are responsible for establishing policy, setting the amount and method of the reward system, and raising of funds.

Crime Stoppers is a model program that demonstrates how all segments of the community (the media, the public and business, and law enforcement) can work together to fight serious crime.
